Let me get a few things out of the way up front.
I'm not going to show up to our first meeting in a pressed suit with a fake tan and a binder full of buzzwords. I'm probably going to be a little sweaty from a golf lesson. My hair will have given up by 10 a.m. And if you say something funny, I'm going to laugh too loud right in the middle of the showing.
That's me in the photo — reading to my son on the couch, wearing a Grimsley shirt, looking like a dad running on coffee and pure love. Not staged. Just a Tuesday.
Here's what I actually want you to know
I've been in Greensboro for 41 years. Born here, raised here, still here. I grew up in Green Valley and these days I'm planting my own roots in Sunset Hills. I coach golf at Grimsley. This isn't a market I "service" — it's my home. I know it the way you only can after four decades of actually living it.
I want you to know I'm real. What you see is what you get. I'm not going to put on a different personality for a listing appointment than the one you'll get at the closing table. The dad in that photo and the agent you hire are the same guy. I think that should be the bare minimum, but somehow in this business it isn't, so here we are.
I want you to know I take the work dead seriously, even though I refuse to take myself seriously. A home is one of the largest financial moves you'll ever make. The contracts matter. The negotiating matters. Protecting your money matters, and I'm relentless about all of it. But the process itself doesn't have to feel like a root canal. You can have someone who fights like hell for you and also makes you laugh while doing it. You shouldn't have to choose.
I want you to know I'll tell you the truth, even when it's not what you want to hear. If a place isn't right, I'll say so. If you're about to overpay, I'll say so. If the "deal" has a problem hiding under the surface, I'll find it and tell you straight. I'd rather lose a sale than watch you make a move you'll regret. My name's on this — literally, it's on the sign — and 41 years in one town means my reputation is the only marketing that's ever really mattered.
And I want you to know I genuinely love this city. Not in a slogan way. In a "I've watched it grow up alongside me and I'm proud of what it's becoming" way. That love shows up in how I work, because I'm not just helping you with a transaction. I'm welcoming you into a place I care about.
Why deep local roots actually matter
There are plenty of agents who can pull up a listing and unlock a door. That's table stakes. What you actually want is someone who understands this specific market down to the block — pricing trends, how different parts of town move, what's coming, what's overhyped, and how to read a property the way someone does who's seen Greensboro change over 40 years.
I can do that because I've lived it. I remember what this city was, I see where it's headed, and I'm genuinely excited to be part of it.
Becoming a dad sharpened all of this
Fatherhood made the why a lot clearer for me. It reminded me that behind every showing and every signature is a real person making a real decision about their life. That deserves patience, honesty, and a little humor to keep everyone sane. I try to bring all three, every time.
